I’d always dreamed of having a Labrador, and when the time felt right for our family, I started the search. There was just one small challenge – my two daughters were absolutely petrified of dogs. Walks in the park were difficult, and they’d sometimes choose to step into the road just to avoid passing one. 

Then, completely by chance, I came across an advert for a litter of chocolate Labradors from Hershcoco Kennels. One phone call with Terry was all it took. He spoke with so much care and knowledge — not just about the dogs themselves, but about the homes they go to and the love his family puts into raising them. I knew I’d found the right place. That same day, we reserved Ruby.

We visited a few times before bringing her home, and each time we were welcomed like old friends. The girls were slowly introduced to the dogs and puppies in such a calm, gentle way. It was incredible to watch their fear melt away. By the time Ruby was ready to come home, they were no longer scared – in fact, they couldn’t wait. 

Now, Ruby is the heart of our home. She has the most incredible temperament – calm, loving, playful – and she’s helped transform our family. The girls adore her. She’s brought confidence, laughter, and a huge amount of love into our lives.

 We’re so grateful to Terry and his family for everything. Ruby is truly special, and I have no doubt we’ll be back for another Hershcoco puppy one day.
